Cane River National Heritage Area is a place where many cultures - American Indian, French, Spanish, African, Creole,and later American - came together to create away of life dependent on the land, the river, and each other.

Cane River Creole National Historical Park -
Magnolia Plantation Complex (National Park Site): Open daily, 8 am - 4pm.
Oakland Plantation (National Park Site): Open daily 8 am - 4 pm
Kate Chopin House - Open daily, Monday through Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm; Sunday open 1 pm - 4 pm.
Magnolia Plantation Big House: Privately owned, hours vary,
Melrose Plantation: Open daily, 12 pm -4 pm.
National Historic Landmark District: Open daily.
Old Courthouse State Museum: Open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm.
Adais Indian Nation Cultural Center and Museum: Open daily, 9 am - 5 pm
Fort St. Jean Baptiste: Open daily, 9 am - 5 pm.
Fort Jesup State Historic Site: Open daily, 9 am - 5 pm
Los Adaes State Historic Site: Open daily, 9 am - 5 pm.

Basic Directions
Cane River National Heritage Area conveniently begins in historic Natchitoches, LA the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase. Traveling from Dallas, TX to Natchitoches, LA, take I-20 to Shreveport and exit on I-49 traveling south. Traveling from south LA, take I-49 north. Travel on Hwy 6 from points in central TX and MS.
