Description

A primitive campground located on the shores of Lower Caney Lake which is a 250 acre reservoir with a scenic pine and hardwood setting. This campground is earmarked for tents and smaller trailers but being primitive, there is no electricity and the water availability is scattered throughout the campground. The Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail is also nearby.

The Turtle Slide Campground is situated on the north end of Lower Caney Lake within the Caney Lakes Recreation Complex. Turtle Slide ampground is situated near the spillway that splits the Upper and Lower Caney Lakes. The Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail passes right next to the campground with an adjoining spur.

Visitors to the Turtle Slide Campground inside the Caney Lakes Recreation Complex can enjoy a wide range of outdoor opportunities including camping, swimming, picnicking, boating, water skiing, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. Turtle Slide Campground is a primitive facility in a quiet setting at the north end of Lower Caney Lake nestled in a large pine and mixed hardwood forest.
