Back in business post-hurricane, Louisiana's "Big Easy", New Orleans, is once more Mardi Gras mecca, cultural center and architectural tease, with jazz and regional cuisine thrown into the mix for good measure.
The Caney Lakes Unit has the Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail running straight through it's Caney Lakes Recreation Complex. With hills and bottoms the terrain varies greatly. Nationally recognized for its historic and scenic values, visitors come from far distances to experience the Sugar Cane Trail.

Visitors to the Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail can enjoy hiking or biking through a very diverse ecosystem. From boggy hardwood bottomland to hillside pine groves to lakeshore views of Upper Caney Lake. Although in some segments of the trail the terrain is moderately difficult, generally the trail just gently meanders through the various plantlife and landscapes. Pictured in the header above is the foot bridge traversing the overflow canal that connects Upper Caney Lake to Lower Caney Lake.
