Anglers, escaping city-dwellers and artists can attest to the merits of Grand Isle, a sandy island on the Gulf of Mexico that is within easy reach of New Orleans but still a world apart.
This trail offers stream crossings, and wildflowers are abundant along the trail. The West Fork Trail leads hikers to the Big Frog Wilderness.
Steepness: Much of the grail has grades of 20% or steeper. Length: Trails are usually more than 8 miles, but short, steep trails may be included. Surface: Trail is most likely rocky, with uneven footing. May include many stream crossings.

Requirements: Bicycles are allowed on the first 1.7 miles. Otherwise, only hiking is permitted.
