Description

The Stuart Lake Campground is a primitive campground inside the Stuart Lake Recreation Complex. There is an assortment of recreational opportunities at Stuart Lake including fishing, swimming, hiking, picnicking, and much more.

Stuart Lake Recreation Complex includes the Stuart Lake Campground. The picturesque setting of Stuart Lake as a backdrop to this quiet campground tops off visitors enjoyment of the many recreational activities. Hiking and biking on the Glenn Emery Trail or the Stuart Nature Trail, swimming at the beach, fishing on the lake, picnicking at the day-use area or the group-use facility, are just some of the many activities available.

Stuart Lake Recreation Complex was originally created as an irrigation reservoir for the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed Stuart Pine Seed Orchard and Nursery. This peaceful 5-acre lake is surrounded by mixed pine/hardwood forest setting. Another nearby attraction for campers is the Catahoula Hummingbird and Butterfly Garden located just a few miles away near the catahoula Ranger District Office on Louisiana Hwy 8.
