Stuart Lake Recreation Complex was originally created as an irrigation reservoir for the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed Stuart Pine Seed Orchard and Nursery. This peaceful 5-acre lake is surrounded by mixed pine/hardwood forest setting. Another nearby attraction for campers is the Catahoula Hummingbird and Butterfly Garden located just a few miles away near the catahoula Ranger District Office on Louisiana Hwy 8.
