A primitive camping area inside the Valentine Lake Recreation Complex on the Evangeline Unit in the Calcasieu Ranger District. Situated on a beautiful 46-acre lake surrounded by pine-hardwood forest, this area provides outdoor recreational opportunities for camping, picnicking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, hiking, bicycling, and nature study.The Valentine Lake Southshore Campground has 17 campsites, 5 of which are located along the shoreline of the lake. There is a vault restroom, trash containers and water is available in strategic locations around the campground. The lakeshore trail gives access to the rest of the recreation area including fishing piers and the swimming beach. There is also a connecting trail to the Wild Azalea National Recreation Trail from the campground. The fee for this campground is $10 per night.
