Additional Details
Saddle Bayou Camp is located just outside the Catahoula National Wildlife Management Preserve boundary, along the western side of the preserve (west of Hwy 167). The area surrounding the camp has many streams, most of them flowing into Iatt Lake. This camp is approximately 1 mile south of the Winn Walk-in Hunting Area.
In the past several years the camping loop road has been upgraded or reconstructed so that passenger cars can access the camping sites. We have a “quiet time” established for all users which runs from 10 pm to 6 am. That means fellow campers with generators should respect this rule, for the benefit of everyone. No hunting should take place within the recreation area boundary, which has a blue-painted boundary and warning signs posted on the perimeter. Riding Off-Highway Vehicles is prohibited within the recreation area.
We ask that all garbage be removed from site and deposited within garbage dumpsters (the past several years the Grant Parish Police Jury has provided a garbage dumpster on site during deer hunting season and has provided weekly pick-up service). Off season please pack-in/pack-out your trash. Please do not place nails in trees to hang or tie-up items.
