Anglers, escaping city-dwellers and artists can attest to the merits of Grand Isle, a sandy island on the Gulf of Mexico that is within easy reach of New Orleans but still a world apart.
Log Jump Trail is an interior trail that runs down (southto- north) a gentle ridge along an old skid road through pine forest. There are numerous logs across this section of trail offering the challenge of jumping logs. The trail continues down to a creek and bottomland hardwood forest. After crossing the creek the trail continues in bottom-land until it intersects with an old double track. Log Jump Trail turns right along the double track and then up a steep single track to a gate at Noxubee Hill Road. Where the trail intersects with the double track the rider has the option of turning left onto Blue Trail E. This trail leads the rider along the double track and then up a steep narrow single track and into a pine forest. A scenic overlook of the creek and bottomland is afforded the rider who stops to rest at the first switchback. The E trail continues smartly uphill through the pine woods all the w ay to Pigeon Roost Road.
