Back in business post-hurricane, Louisiana's "Big Easy", New Orleans, is once more Mardi Gras mecca, cultural center and architectural tease, with jazz and regional cuisine thrown into the mix for good measure.
These few miles of high elevation dirt roads are surrounded by woodland and sagebrush both. Go high enough, toward the 8,500 mark, and you may see some aspen groves. The Grand hogback is on one side, the Middle Rifle Creek below and the mountains are everywhere.
