Visitors to the Vernon Unit of the Calcasieu Ranger District can enjoy the recreation serenity of a longleaf pine ecosystem and the historic pasts of Fullerton Lake Recreation Complex and Little Cypress Recreation Complex.
The Fullerton Lake Recreation Complex was once the site of the Fullerton Sawmill and community, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Ruins and foundations of one of the largest sawmill operations in the South may be seen on the 1.6 mile Fullerton Mill Trail. The Ouiska Chitto Trail also passes nearby Fullerton Lake for hikers and bikers who are camping to take advantage of. Also see the Fullerton Mill Trail Page and the Fullerton Lake Day and Group-Use Page for more information.
