Valentine Lake Canoe and Kayak Opportunities

Valentine Lake is accessible to canoe launching from both day-use areas, the group-use area and both the campgrounds. In order to keep with the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of Valentine Lake, motorized boats are not allowed.

The Valentine Lake Recreation Complex is set in a peaceful and secluded atmosphere. In keeping with the serenity, motorized boating is not allowed. Canoe access is drag or carry from available day-use parking areas. Access can also be made by campers in the campground areas. Valentine Lake is a 46 acre lake in a hardwood and pine setting.

Facilities: The Valentine Lake Recreation Complex offers walk-in access to canoes and kayakers from the two day-use areas. Restrooms are available at the parking areas. Water is available at the southern day-use area.

Fishing, picnicking, camping, hiking and biking are all available activities in the Valentine Lake Recreation Area. Fishing and boating rules are covered under the Louisiana fishing regulations and the Louisiana boating laws.





 Directions

From Alexandria, drive west on Louisiana Highway 28 for 13 miles to Louisiana Highway 121. Turn left (south) on LA 121 and go 1/2 mile to Valentine Lake Road (Forest Road 279) and turn left. Go 1 mile to Forest Road 282 and turn right. Go 1 mile to the campground pay station. The first paved right is to the north shore campground. The second paved right is to the main day-use and group-use areas.
