Upper Caney Lake Launch

A more primitive but paved boat launch area located between the Turtle Slide and the Beaver Dam Campgrounds on Upper Caney Lake. The 125 acre reservoir has a very peaceful setting which is enhanced by the restrictions of types of boating. No water skiing, jet skiing or power boats are allowed on Upper Caney Lake.

Upper Caney Lake is designated for use with canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and fishing boats. Water skiing, jet skiing, and the likes are not allowed.

 Some More Things to Know

Visitors to Upper Caney Lake can expect a calm and quiet atmosphere without skiers. The Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail loops around Upper Caney Lake which has a beautiful landscaped shoreline. Beaver Dam Campground is nestled on the western shore of the lake.

Paved boat launch with ample parking is provided along with restrooms and trash receptacles. There is no water available at this site. The facility road is a loop which allows easy access with vehicles.





 Directions

From Minden, take Louisiana Hwy 159 north to Webster Parish Road 111. Turn left (west) on WPR 111 and go 2 miles. The recreation area entrance is signed and the fee station is just inside the entrance. Take the first left and go to the second paved road to the right which is the boat launch entrance road. Fee payment must be done at the main entrance gate.
