Cane Camp

A Primitive camp inside the National Red Dirt Wildlife Management Preserve. This camp is available for horse and general camping. No ATV camping allowed.

The Cane Camp is a primitive camping area set near the Sandstone Trail in an upland, mixed forest with large oaks and pines. Restrooms and trash receptacles are provided. This is a designated horse camp and has water and horse feeder poles. Cane Camp is a designated fee area.

 Some More Things to Know

Visitors to Cane Camp can enjoy a quiet and peaceful setting under the shade of large pine trees carpeted with green grass. This horse camp is located near the Sandstone Multiple-Use Trail and can be a riders camping point to utilize the Caroline Dormon Trail.



 Directions

From the intersection of I-49 and Highway 6 (Natchitoches), drive west on Hwy 6 for 4 miles. Turn left (south) on Louisiana Hwy 117 and proceed 16 miles to Forest Highway 59, Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway. Turn left (east) on FH 59 and go 4.1 miles to the camp, a signed location on the left (north)
